About The Artists
K RHYNUS CESARK
K Rhynus Cesark was born in Hartford, CT in 1965. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Plymouth State University in 1988 and received her Masters of Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 1992. K divides her time in her studio between creating sculpture, encaustic painting, porcelain and stoneware tableware, installations and digital media. K currently serves Colorado Mountain College as an Associate Professor of Art and as their Gallery Director. K has taught numerous workshops and conducted lectures at many institutions that include Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Wyly Art Center, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, and Red Rocks Community College. K is a Fellowship recipient from Colorado Creative Industries, (formerly Colorado Council on the Arts), for her ceramic sculpture. She is a former Resident Artist at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village Colorado. She exhibits her work nationally.
NORI PAO
Nori Pao received a MFA from Arizona State University and a BA from the University of Delaware. She has recently participated in exhibitions at Albada Jelgersma, Amsterdam, NL; Priveekollektie Contemporary Art & Design, Heusden, NL; Stellar Projects (solo), New York, NY; SEPTEMBER, Hudson, NY; Harvey Preston Gallery, Aspen, CO; and Knauer Gallery, West Chester, PA. Past honors include a residency at the European Ceramic Workcentre (EKWC) in Oisterwijk, NL; Artist-in-Residence, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Snowmass Village, CO; an Artist Assistance Fellowship Grant, Minnesota State Arts Board, St. Paul, MN; and the National Patricia Roberts Harris Fellowship, Tempe, AZ.
MARTHA RUSSO
Martha Russo (b. 1962, Milford, Connecticut) earned her BA in developmental biology and psychology from Princeton University in 1985. In 1984, she suffered a career-ending injury while vying for a spot on the United States Olympic Field Hockey Team. After recovering from surgery, Russo was attracted to the physical nature of sculpture. She began studying studio arts in Florence, Italy in 1983 and continued studying ceramics at Princeton University. In 1995, she earned her MFA at the University of Colorado Boulder. Russo exhibits her sculptures and installations nationally at venues such as the Alan Stone Gallery in New York, Denver Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver, and The Santa Fe Art Institute. Her work was recently the focus of a 25-year survey at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in 2016. Through the socially and politically based art collective, Artnauts, Russo shows her 2-dimensional works. Since joining the group in 1996, she has been involved in 240 exhibitions in 18 countries. In addition to her studio practice, Russo is an instructor at the University of Colorado Boulder and before that, she taught at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Denver for 18 years. She lives in the mountains northwest of Boulder, Colorado with her husband, Joe Ryan, and two children, Odelia and Henry.
